My ‘Why’ and Handling Setbacks
Hi There! Great to see you again.
Seems like we’re slowly getting a following and fans, which is a lot of fun and huge honour! I’m humbled by the time and care that those are willing to put in me. I won’t let you down!
My hopes are this continues to deliver, we all grow, Keep learning and keep enjoying.
So Why do I do it? I’ve been asked this by a few friends, along with what I want from it.
I do it because it’s fun. I want people to come away from the coffee feeling fun, coming from a cup slightly smiling, amused and then going back for more; and we’re making it happen!
However, this has not been a smooth road.
While incorporated at the start of February (2026) we didn’t have our first roast until the end of March (2026) due to the Roasters malfunctions and issues. As we’re new, we use a community roaster. It’s a great way to kinda connect with other roasters(though I don’t see them much) and also not have it be such an inside experience. That does leave us to the whims of what may be at times.
We have had Three roasts so far and they’ve all been learning experiences. So when things change we have to adapt. Do changes come quick, who’s to say?
Does this mean a day, a few, a week? We don’t know. We try to problem solve where we can!
None of us can foresee exigent circumstances and problems. It’s how we respond to them. (Heck we had our first formal Fraud/Scam case the day before! Talk about timing! Seems us small guys still end up on peoples radar anyways haha).
Don’t get me wrong I feel bummed when things don’t go right.
Can I learn from these instances ? Absolutely. Does it feel good? Heck No! Haha
but it doesn’t mean we give up. We will keep trying, planning, prepping, and doing what we can while we wait.
Our sample roaster should arrive soon and this means incredibly small batches and inefficient for volume but the ability to dial in profiles to display the potential we want in our larger volume roasts for coffee (worst case we’re roasting all through the night on this thing to make quota hahaha).
We also just got our first wholesale clients , so very, beyond exciting indeed as well as tad(more than a tad) nervous for our coffee to keep growing and expanding. Came sooner than expected!
I am forever grateful to them, regardless how it turns out, for them placing their trust in me and liking the brand and my effort enough to take that chance.
It means so much.
At the end of the day, things can be disheartening at times but we fortify our heart with, prayer, family and friends, things in our control and take the steps of continuing to play in the space, learn, share, create and most of all have fun!
I hope you all continue with me on this journey, as I update, grow, and more!
Stay tuned and all the best.
Sincere Thanks
from
Kuro, Shiro and Phillip
